In Western Macedonia, on the slopes of Mount Askio, the well-known Siniatsiko, at an altitude of about 850 meters, Tsotyli spreads out like an amphitheater. It is a place of history, clean air and a gentle pace of life, all of which matter greatly in later life.
A place with a history
In the 18th and 19th centuries Tsotyli was an important commercial and intellectual center of the region, with a strong presence of benefactors who supported education. The Papageorgiou School made it a major educational center of Macedonia, and the historic Gymnasium-Boarding School still recalls this tradition. During the Macedonian Struggle and the Balkan Wars the area played an active part, and it was liberated in 1912.
Nature and clean air
The climate is continental and mountainous. Winters are cool, often with snow that makes the landscape beautiful, and summers are mild and pleasant. The mountains and rich vegetation offer clean air and quiet, which are ideal conditions for those seeking peace and quality of life.
The small joys of daily life
The weekly Saturday market, the old Kari Pazar, keeps tradition alive and brings the people of the area together. Around the unit there are parks, squares and small groves for walking. A short distance away are the bridge of Anthochori, the longest stone bridge in Macedonia, and the Archaeological Museum of Aiani, both well suited to a family outing.
Health close by
Peace and quiet are only worth having when they come with safety. Our unit is at the edge of town, right next to the Tsotyli Health Center, less than one kilometer away. The General Hospital of Grevena is 45 kilometers away, that of Kastoria 55, and the "Mamatsio" Hospital of Kozani 65.
Close to families
Thanks to its link with the Egnatia Motorway, Tsotyli is within reach of Kozani, Ptolemaida, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina, as well as Ioannina, 120 kilometers away, and Thessaloniki, 170 kilometers away.
